October 4, 2006
District Judge Terri Bozeman Lovell called the
Lowndes County Children’s Policy Council meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. on October
4, 2006, at the Lowndes County Law Library.

Judge Bozeman Lovell welcomed Council members
and introduction of members and guests followed. The members approved the minutes of the August 2, 2006, meeting.
Recognition of grants were given to the
following individuals, businesses and granting agencies: Paul Sloane: $500 for
Lowndes County Youth Count, BancorpSouth Bank: $500
for Leadership Lowndes County, Hayneville Telephone Company: $500 for Lowndes
County Youth Count, Cornerstone Community Outreach: $5000 for Lowndes County
Youth Count and $1000 for Leadership Lowndes County, Black Belt Community
Foundation: $1500 for Leadership Lowndes County.
Dr. George Kelly from Montgomery Inner City
Ministries gave a presentation on the success of the youth mentoring program
which is in partnership with the Attorney General’s Office. Reverend Sylvester Hardy encouraged the CPC
members present to become active in the Lowndes Youth Count program. Lowndes County Youth Count is utilizing Dr.
Kelly’s program to recruit volunteer mentors in Lowndes County for the youth
participating in Lowndes County Youth Count.
Dan Therrien gave an overview of
the new Lowndes County Children’s Policy County website: www.lowndescountycpc.org. The members
recognized Dan for his hard work in developing and launching the website. He encouraged the members to submit
information to him for the website.
